A well-designed bicycle route can make a big difference. If people feel comfortable and safe cycling, they will be less likely to use cars. As I rode along the route, I also noticed a few cafes and small stores. Right now it’s mostly cars going in there, but if more cyclists pass by, these places will have more customers. Owners could set up bike parking lots, offer water, light snacks or phone chargers. Also, such a route can create new jobs. Bicycle rental or repair shops, bike tours, festivals, competitions or workshops could be organized.
