Testing the Path Towards a More Sustainable Future — October 1st, 2025
Today, October 1st, the young participants of the BICYCLE project cycled the route from Sarón to Astillero, passing through the Riosequillo park and concluding with a visit to the Santander marshes. This ride was not just a recreational activity, but a purposeful action: to test and analyse this cycling route based on the principles outlined in the European Declaration on Cycling.
Throughout the journey, participants identified both strengths and areas for improvement in the cycling infrastructure, particularly regarding safety, accessibility, and interurban connectivity. The experience enabled them to observe their surroundings critically and constructively, reinforcing their commitment to active mobility and the development of more sustainable, liveable communities.
At BICYCLE, we continue to promote youth involvement as a driving force for local transformation, aligned with the values of the European Green Deal and the project’s objectives: civic empowerment, climate justice, and political participation through cycling.
The young participants will now add their own comments and reflections on the route.
